How it is worked out
Five assumptions, all of them visible

Year one is the build price
For WordPress and custom sites, the quote usually covers the first year's promotional hosting, a ₹1 domain, and licences on the developer's account.

From year two, hosting renews at full price
₹449 a month on Hostinger India's Premium plan, which is advertised at ₹149 on a 48-month term. Change the plan and the maths is the same.

Licences bill in dollars
The page-builder option carries Elementor Pro ($59/yr) and WP Rocket ($59.95/yr), converted at ₹95.82 per US$.

Maintenance is a choice
The typical band is ₹24,000–₹60,000 a year for a business site and ₹84,000–₹1,80,000 for a store. The same band applies to every self-hosted option, so it never tilts the comparison.

Shopify pays as it goes
₹1,499 a month on Basic, billed yearly, plus 2% of every sale, because Shopify Payments is not available in India. Your payment gateway's own fee is left out: it is the same whichever way the store is built.

About the numbers
- How much does a website cost in India per year after it is built?
- For a site on shared hosting, at least the hosting renewal and the domain: ₹449 a month on Hostinger's Premium plan and ₹899 a year for a .in domain, before GST. Add any plugin licences billed in dollars and, if you want one, a maintenance contract, which typically runs ₹24,000–₹60,000 a year for a business site. A Shopify store pays its plan every year instead.
- Why is the cheapest website quote not always the cheapest website?
- Because a quote prices the first year and the site is paid for every year. Promotional hosting renews at three to four times the advertised rate, page-builder and caching licences start billing in dollars from year two, and a maintenance contract is rarely in the first number. Put your quotes into the calculator and compare the total, not the build price.
- Does the calculator include GST?
- Not by default. Hostinger lists its prices without GST, and most development quotes are given “plus GST”. Tick “Add 18% GST” to apply it to every figure.
- Why is there no Wix option?
- Wix's own pricing page showed us US-dollar prices from India on 22 September 2026, and the rupee prices in third-party guides disagree with each other. We will not publish a figure we cannot source. Use “Add another option” with the price your Wix checkout shows.
- Why does year one not include hosting or maintenance for WordPress and custom sites?
- Because that is how these quotes are usually priced: promotional hosting and a ₹1 domain inside the build price, plugin licences on the developer's own account, and some support for the first months. Counting them again would overstate year one. Everything recurring starts in year two.

Premium renews at ₹449/month (Single ₹289, Cloud Startup ₹1,599). The promotional rates need 48 months paid upfront. “Prices are listed without GST.”
- Hostinger India — Domain name prices
.in is ₹1 for the first year, then ₹899 a year.
- Shopify India — Pricing
Basic is ₹1,499/month billed yearly. On a third-party payment provider, which every Indian store uses, Shopify adds 2% of each sale on Basic.
- WP Rocket — Pricing
Single site, $59.95 a year at list price. A first-year discount was running when checked; the list price is what a renewal costs.
- CostBench (updated 21 Jul 2026) — Elementor pricing
Elementor Pro Essential, one site, $59 a year. Elementor's own page loads its prices in a way we could not read, so this is a second-hand figure.
- Redpulse Software — Website AMC packages in India (2026)
Typical annual maintenance: ₹24,000–60,000 for a business site with a CMS, ₹84,000–1,80,000+ for e-commerce. Redpulse sells AMCs, so read these as market-indicative.
